Tasks
-Conduct quality control reviews of inspection reports, witness and assess field inspections, and perform post-inspection quality control in accordance with the responsibility specified in Section 3.1.3; -Serve as a technical resource by offering guidance on inspection best practices to WMATA inspectors; -Develop and support QC inspection process improvements; -QC/review of inspection reports -Generate reports based on inspection findings to support the Program Director, maintenance and engineering teams, and TAMO in prioritizing maintenance and renewal recommendations; and -Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the WMATA Structures Inspection Manual and procedures to ensure compliance with established guidelines; -FHWA-NHI-130056 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers; and -Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director to support accurate, reliable inspections and documentation of the inspections. -FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges. -FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges; or

What You Bring
The Junior/Mid-level SIQC Engineer must be available to work nights and weekends as needed to alignwith and support WMATA’s inspection schedules, per Section 8. -National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS); -FHWA-NHI-130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges. -Capability to perform QC of structural inspections related to: Bridge spans Tunnels Culverts Stations Fences Retaining walls and shafts S&I Pits, bus garages, and parking garages Other structures as requested -National Certified Tunnel Inspector (NCTI); and -Proposed Engineer in Training (EIT) must possess the following certifications: FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges. -Possession of the following knowledge and credentials is preferred: FHWA-NHI-130110 Tunnel Safety Inspection; National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS); Tunnel Operations, Maintenance, Inspection and Evaluation (TOMIE) Manual; Specifications for the National Tunnel Inventory (SNTI); National Certified Tunnel Inspector (NCTI); and FHWA-NHI-130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges; -A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on Structures; -Tunnel Operations, Maintenance, Inspection and Evaluation (TOMIE) Manual; -Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate schedules with on-site structural inspection crews and provide detailed and accurate QC reporting on field inspection tasks and inspection reports; -Registered PE is preferred including a minimum requirement of three (3) years of hands-on structural inspection and testing experience, on major transit system structures; -Proposed Professional Engineer (PE) must possess the following certifications: FHWA-NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges; or FHWA-NHI-130056 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers; and FHWA-NHI-130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges. -Experience in structural inspection testing. Ability to identify and recommend the most applicable non-destructive (NDT) and destructive testing methods. Experience using Inspection tools such as the “D-Meter” and other NDT tools such as Dye Penetrant; -FHWA-NHI-130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges; -FHWA-NHI-130110 Tunnel Safety Inspection; -Experience with WMATA bridge and tunnel inspection;
