The Role
Overview
Perform manual labor on marine/railroad construction sites, using tools and maintaining safety.

Tasks
-Work with and assists crew in excavation activities which may include: hoisting material, tools, and equipment, cleaning and preparing the work site, digging trenches, setting braces and/or forms, shoveling concrete and/or dirt into construction areas, clean-up of rubble and debris, and removal of waste materials. -The individual may be required to lift objects with a minimum of 10 lbs. and a maximum single-person lift of 50 lbs. This could result in frequent lifting or carrying depending on project needs. -Maintain a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. -Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects involving lifting, carrying, digging, shoveling, and other activities requiring exertion.

What You Bring
-The individual may occasionally be required to stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, or sit for long periods. -Experience: 6 months to 1 year construction or labor-intensive related experience and/or training. -The individual frequently works near moving mechanical parts and must be able to adapt to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration. -The individual may be required to work in confined spaces, climb vertical ladders of a height of 6ft. or greater, and/or elevated heights. -Education/Certification: High school diploma or equivalent. Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be eligible/willing to obtain one upon hire. -The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes a hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD), and/or other protective equipment as required. -Certification(s): None. -The individual may be required to perform repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and back in the performance of work. -Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Thorough knowledge of practices and materials involved in marine or railroad construction. Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers. -The individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. -The individual may be required to work long hours and/or weekends. Additionally, some out-of-town or overnight travel may be required. -The individual may be required to walk, step, climb, or otherwise move from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters. -Experience: Marine or railroad-specific construction. -Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): General knowledge of Marine or Railroad construction terminology. General knowledge of welding, pile driving, safety, and crane operations. -Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and proficiently, including hand tools like shovels and hammers, as well as power tools like saws and drills.
