Project Geotechnical Engineer

The Foth Companies

The Role

Overview

Geotechnical engineer designing earth, marine, and heavy‑lift foundations for environmental projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • technical modeling
  • permit docs
  • foundation design
  • pile analysis
  • field sampling
  • project coordination

Tasks

-Project Leadership: Lead project design through technical reports, geotechnical calculations, analysis, and modeling -Proposal, Budgets, and Work Plans: Prepare proposals, including project budget and schedule, work plans, and management of subcontractor/vendor contracts -Permit Preparation: Prepare permit documents for mine site development, dam safety, closure, reclamation, and financial assurance -Team Oversight: Act as technical lead in the oversight of other engineers, geologists, and consultants -Project Management: Assist with proposals, reports, and project phases. Coordinate tasks, review junior staff work, and ensure high-quality deliverables -Field Work & Construction Support: Prepare design calculations, develop field sampling plans, coordinate field work, provide construction observations, and perform site visits to analyze data -General Geotechnical: Collect data, analyze slope stability, manage groundwater, and assess geotechnical risks. Use tools like AutoCAD for design and decision-making -Heavy-Lift Foundations: Evaluate soil and rock properties, load-bearing capacity, and ground improvement. Address environmental impacts and ensure sustainable practices -Marine Structural Foundations: Provide pile driving analysis, dynamic pile testing, CAPWAP. Collaborate with structural engineers to create complementary foundation designs -Earth Structures & Foundations: Provide design, construction observation, and finite element analysis. Perform geotechnical analysis, design calculations, and ensure soil stability for heavy civil, upland, and in-water environmental remediation projects
