Tasks

The Control Engineer is responsible for providing guidance on the maintenance, repair, and inspection activities of all electrical equipment used in offshore geotechnical operations. This includes but is not limited to drilling rigs, geotechnical drilling equipment, winches, cranes, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other electrical components. The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled technicians, plan maintenance schedules, and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and ensure safe and efficient operations. International travel may be required in order to support activities across the Fleet. -Ensure maintenance reporting and CMMS procedures are current, relevant, and effectively used onboard. -Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, standards, and company policies during all maintenance activities. -Assist the Maintenance Planning Team in scheduling major overhauls, upgrades, and inspections. -Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) to ensure performance and schedule adherence. -Participate actively in onboard safety meetings and emergency drills. -Lead Toolbox Talks and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to share best practices and insights. -Provide expert reliability and maintenance support to both Operations and Project teams across company assets. -Collaborate with suppliers to verify that all equipment meets the highest standards and is fit for purpose. -Assess on-site issues with problematic equipment, planning and overseeing repairs, replacements, or upgrades. -Support the development and implementation of fit-for-purpose maintenance strategies within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). -Support the identification of critical spares and lead obsolescence management initiatives to ensure business continuity. -Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset performance and maintenance efficiency. -Keep up to date with industry trends and technological advancements to recommend equipment upgrades and enhancements. -Conduct compliance and quality audits in line with internal and regulatory requirements. -Identify and implement innovative improvements to electrical systems, enhancing efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. -Provide specialist expertise in troubleshooting and condition monitoring of electrical systems. -Support the implementation of the Emergency Preparedness Action Plan when required. -Serve as the onshore technical point of contact for complex maintenance challenges when offshore expertise has been exhausted. -Develop, review, and optimise asset care processes and maintenance schedules to extend asset life and reliability. -Champion a strong safety culture by proactively reporting accidents, near misses, Non-Conformances, and potential hazards. -Review and contribute to Risk Assessments and Incident Investigations, conducting Root Cause Analysis and analysing equipment failure data.
