Tasks
As Director of our Silver Spring team, you will lead our talented team of professionals and serve as a liaison with our regional and company leadership. Fostering a positive culture and healthy morale while maintaining a productive work environment are integral components of this role, as is managing, mentoring, and recruiting new staff. You will pursue and win work that has a positive impact on communities and ensure your team consistently delivers high-quality work through an equity-centered approach. You will help grow and lead a talented local team working on exciting projects throughout the Washington Metropolitan area and beyond, and in collaboration with staff located throughout our Mid-Atlantic region (Philadelphia and Pittsburgh) in addition to other offices in the U.S. As a leader at our Silver Spring headquarters, you'll have a tremendous opportunity to influence and shape our practice in the Mid-Atlantic, with ample support from our operations teams and regional and company leadership. -You take initiative and deliver high-quality work on time and on-budget

If so, please consider joining our Silver Spring team. -A degree in Planning, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or a very strong technical understanding of the Architecture and Engineering industry -You enjoy creating teams, being entrepreneurial, and solving problems -You enjoy collaborating across disciplines and offices to do great work for clients -A minimum of 5 years of experience in a consulting firm or similar -Experience solving problems, putting out fires, and helping others navigate tricky situations -Experience pursuing and winning work that is competitively bid -You have strong analytical and decision-making skills -Excellent oral and written communication skills -You excel at motivating and mentoring people and teams with diverse areas of focus and expertise -Experience managing and developing staff -A minimum of 10 years of experience

Benefits
We are targeting a range of $135,000-$170,000 for this position. Placement within this range will vary by technical discipline, experience, and qualifications. Candidates invited to interview are welcome to inquire where they may fall within the range, as we value transparency. This full-time position works three days per week in the office (typically Tuesday - Thursday). We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home up to two days per week. The Silver Spring office of Toole Design is conveniently located close to regional trails and networks, with on-street bike infrastructure, and just a few blocks from the Silver Spring Metro Station (Red Line), MARC Station, and bus depot. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit. This leadership position earns a competitive salary and great benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, a health savings account (HSA), and a flexible spending account (FSA). All staff receive 8 holidays and earn at least 16 days of PTO over the course of the year.
