Overview
On-site support, inspection, and repair coordination for NRG's steam turbine fleet.

Tasks
-Performs technical duties in area of responsibility -Identifies and implements new or existing repair technology in area of responsibility -Develops quality work plans when required -Ensures company resources are used in a cost effective manner -Performs engineering calculations in area of responsibility -Evaluates component condition and repair options and performs risk assessment for maintenance activities -Develops and maintains technical specifications for purchase of replacement parts, vendor repairs and maintenance standards -Coordinates activities with Vendors/Contractors, other divisions and departments -Performs field inspections and takes field measurements -Corporate level position supporting NRG’s fleet of steam turbines across the country. Steam Turbine Engineer/Specialist will provide on-site support for field inspections, condition assessments and run, repair, replace recommendations. Coordinate repair activities with various repair shops and suppliers. Assist in developing and/or reviewing quality plans in addition to monitoring and auditing supplier quality. Emphasis on communication amongst peers, site management, and leadership team. Review of equipment histories, applicable manufacturers bulletins, and operational history and requirements to develop long range plans for steam turbines. Support our culture for safety, environmental compliance, and quality. -May be required to manage projects in area of expertise -Track AIB/TIL’s for steam/generators and assess implementation and compliance strategy -Participates and/or leads teams that focus on specific problem areas or needs for generating units -Qualifies vendors and suppliers for parts and services in area of responsibility -Performs root cause analysis of system and equipment problems -Communicates with customers regarding condition of equipment and repair work scope -Prepares written reports in assigned area of responsibility -Supports and emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental programs -Inspects completed work or work in progress to assure job quality -Assists in outage planning and economic evaluation of turbine projects as needed -Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment access, inspect or collect data on plant equipment.

What You Bring
-Normal office environment and/or outside work environment (including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high humidity areas at generating plants) -Requires operating a personal computer -Knowledge of power plant systems -Requires personal protective safety equipment while in the plants -Training and experience in vibration analysis and balancing of large rotating equipment -Knowledge of mechanical hydraulic control systems for large steam turbines -Fundamental knowledge of vibration analysis and balancing of large rotating equipment -Project management skills -Minimum of 20 years of experience in maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting of steam or gas turbines -All positions at NRG will require at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent -Fundamental knowledge of control systems for large steam turbines -Minimum of Baccalaureate Degree in appropriate Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university and 5 years of experience in steam or gas turbine equipment maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting. -Knowledge of working materials and metallurgy of steam turbines and components -Effective communication skills with craft personnel, site leadership, as well as management. -Ability to take a leadership role meetings and communications around steam turbine issues. -Fundamental knowledge of working materials and metallurgy of steam turbines and components -Requires travel to and from NRG plants or vendor facilities across the country (approx. 20% of the time) -An Engineering degree and minimum 15 years of experience in steam or gas turbine engineering, maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting -Knowledge of turbine repair processes -Requires operation of a motor vehicle and a valid drivers license -Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them -Or, a minimum of 10 years of experience in steam or gas turbine equipment maintenance/repair, operations, and troubleshooting. -Ability to prepare written reports and presentations to management -Fundamental knowledge of GE, Siemens, Westinghouse Steam turbines
