Tasks
-May represent agency in court when authorized; -Consults with the Office of the Attorney General on legal issues; -Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies complex and conflicting laws and regulations, case law and legal principles; -Researching complex legal issues. -Participates in the conduct of various educational activities; -Assisting in all other legal matters of the Securities and Business Investments Division as directed by management. -Reviews legal and other related documents for legal sufficiency; -Assisting in the prosecution of contested cases as necessary. -Provides legal guidance when duly authorized; -Drafts advisory opinions, rulings, decisions, recommendations, findings, legislation, statutes, regulations, publications and other related legal documents; -Reviews court decisions, new and proposed laws and regulations to determine impact on agency operations; -Participating as needed in settlement negotiations and draft notices, denials, consent orders, or other enforcement orders. -Stay Connected! Log in daily to your JobAps Personal Status Board to track your status and check email (including spam/junk folders) for updates and tasks. -Provides input into policy formation; -Drafting proposed legislation and regulations. -Prepares comprehensive reports for use in administrative and court proceedings; -May testify at or monitor legislative proceedings; -Prepares and maintains precedent manuals; -Helping to craft and review legislation to be considered by the Connecticut General Assembly. -Preparing legal opinions, advisory interpretations and other documents. -apply judicial decisions to the interpretation of statutes; -Acts as hearing officer or represents agency in formal administrative and public proceedings on a full range of cases involving complex legal and technical issues; -Negotiates and drafts settlement agreements; -comprehend, analyze and organize technical data and coordinate elements of legal cases. -Prepares pleadings and other court papers; -Working closely with management, examination staff, and other state and federal regulatory agencies, as well as with the Attorney General’s office. -Conducts investigations and enforcement proceedings; -Assists in the preparation and presentation of trials and appeals; -Researches complex legal issues;

What You Bring
-Experience with the administrative hearing process using the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act (UAPA). -Experience providing guidance to agency stakeholders on legal matters. -legal research techniques; -Interprets and applies complex or conflicting laws and regulations, case law and legal principles; -criminal and constitutional law and legislative process; -oral and written communication skills; -Performs advanced and complex legal work of an agency; -Considerable ability to -Incumbents in this class must be admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut. -Experience in monitoring legislative proceedings. -Educational Credits: List your earned credits and degrees from accredited institutions accurately on your application.
