The Role

Overview

Conduct rail ergonomics and human‑factors evaluations to support safe, efficient operator design.

Tasks

-Undertaking usability evaluations in line with Human Factors standards for equipment/ layout/ HMIs to demonstrate systems support operators to perform tasks in an efficient manner -Conducting Project Ergonomics Surveys including observing current railway signalling tasks, level crossing control, measuring operational workload, impact assessments, Training Needs Analysis and analysing and presenting data to be fed into design activities and presented to clients -Producing the Concept of Operations to support new/ modified station/ depot design, and conducting Access & Maintenance assessments, room layout & work station design including Control room design. -Working with project teams to assess Accessibility and Design for Inclusion. -Eliciting Ergonomics requirements and working with project teams to deliver user needs.

What You Bring

-Previous Human Factors Experience -Experience of applying ergonomics techniques and processes in the rail industry -Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (preferably working towards Chartership) -Experience of managing and growing a team -Knowledge of the railway industry, railway infrastructure and operational roles -Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience
