Tasks

The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects. This includes analyzing specifications, drawings, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates and bids. The Estimator will collaborate with Preconstruction, Project Management, and Operations teams to support successful project execution from pursuit through handoff. -Stay updated on industry trends, material pricing, and labor market conditions. -Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure smooth transition from estimating to execution. -Support the creation of competitive bids and proposals for clients. -Review and interpret plans, specifications, and other project documents. -Collaborate with business development and project teams to align bids with customer expectations. -Analyze and incorporate vendor and subcontractor quotes. -Identify value engineering opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality. -Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed. -Prepare detailed estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. -Track historical project costs to refine future estimates and improve accuracy. -Recommend improvements in estimating systems, tools, and processes. -Develop conceptual estimates during early design phases and update throughout design progression. -Provide detailed cost breakdowns and clarifications to field and operations staff. -Build and maintain strong vendor and subcontractor relationships.

What You Bring

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Estimator to join our team. This role is critical in helping PCM secure profitable projects, ensure competitive bids, and maintain our commitment to excellence in mechanical contracting. -3–5+ years of estimating experience in HVAC, plumbing, or mechanical contracting. -Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred). -Ability to manage multiple bids/projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. -Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, Accubid, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite. -Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. -Excellent communication and negotiation skills. -Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and estimating practices.
