The Role

Overview

Procure building materials for residential projects, manage budgets & supplier performance.

Tasks

- Procurement of materials/plant as dictated by individual project specifications. - Administering and monitoring of any sole deals and associated rebates. - Monitoring and reporting on material budgets as contracts progress. - Preparing material budgets. - Preparing material take-off from contract drawings and specifications. - Administering and authorising invoices for the supply chain. - Monitoring supplier performance. - Issuing tender enquiries and analysing quotations. - Assisting with product and specification development. - Assisting the construction team with regular stock takes. - Preparing material schedules on Excel for supplier and site use. - Production of computer-generated Purchase Orders on COINS. - Collating and submitting statistical costing analysis as required. As a Buyer you will be accountable for the procurement of building materials for various new build residential projects across East Anglia reporting directly to the Commercial Manager.

What You Bring

You must be eligible to live and work in the UK to apply for this position. - Computer literate with competency in Microsoft packages. Due to planned growth, we are seeking a motivated, highly driven, and commercially astute Materials Buyer to join the Commercial team at our head offices in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP33 3WD. - The ability to work as part of a team but also be disciplined and self-motivated to manage individual workload to strict deadlines. - A good understanding of construction methods, practices and contractual procedures. - Previous experience in new build residential sector (preferred). - Knowledge of COINS (preferred). - Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
