Purchasing Agent - Electrical Contractor

Overview

Assist in purchasing electrical goods and materials for construction projects

Key Responsibilities

• spec review

• vendor negotiation

Tasks

-Review technical specifications for raw materials, commodities, components or equipment. -Handle the day to day purchases as well as large electrical package buy-outs. -Generate accurate purchase orders. -Negotiate prices and purchases. -Coordinate between vendors and staff with respect to availabilities, ship dates, cancellation dates. -Coordinate with accounting staff on payment of invoices, resolving discrepancies and billing follow-up. -Management of vehicle fleet repairs. -Seek reliable vendors or suppliers to provide quality goods and materials at reasonable prices. -Adhere to Company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established. -Actively drive standard processes to achieve desired supplier performance (quality, delivery, productivity, lead time, etc.)

What You Bring

-Ability to regularly and consistently use a keyboard and mouse. -Interact effectively with all members of the organization and outside associates. -Familiarity with a wide variety of field construction concepts, practices and procedures. -Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and internet searches. -Ability to identify cost saving initiatives. -Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms. -Five (5) + years of purchasing experience in the construction industry. -Electrical construction procurement experience a plus -Familiarity with local market is highly desirable. -The employee should expect to sit for long periods in front of a computer. -Experience with Viewpoint by vista construction ERP software highly preferred.
