The Role

Overview

Design and lead HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for mission‑critical industrial projects.

Tasks

-Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Mentor junior engineers and lead support engineers in completing design work. -Conduct quality checks to ensure deliverables meet contract and project requirements. -Support construction teams by responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and assisting with project completion and turnover. -Create construction documents, drawings, and specifications for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems. -Review RFP documents and prepare mechanical system estimates and narratives, with emphasis on mission-critical systems for Data Centers and/or Nuclear facilities. -Perform system sizing calculations and equipment selection, including chilled water, hydronic heating, steam, and air-side systems. -Participate in site visits to review installations and develop punch lists. -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Apply industry codes and standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, NRC, and DOE regulations. -Develop cost-effective mechanical designs that meet stringent reliability and safety standards. -Coordinate with other design disciplines in a collaborative team environment.

What You Bring

-PE license is a plus. -Proficient in Microsoft Office and design documentation tools. -Proficient in HVAC load modeling, psychrometric analysis, ductwork and pipe sizing. -Familiar with ASHRAE Standards and applicable mechanical/plumbing codes. -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -Familiarity with building modeling software such as Trane Trace 700 or Carrier HAP. -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. -High degree of self-motivation and ability to lead and inspire others. -7+ years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design, with 2+ years in Data Center or Nuclear facility projects preferred. -Regular, reliable attendance -Skilled in reading and developing design drawings and writing specifications. -Strong written and verbal communication skills. -Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering. -Strong understanding of mechanical systems in high-reliability environments (e.g., N+1, 2N redundancy, cleanroom standards, radiation shielding). -Experience with HVAC systems including chilled water, dehumidification, hydronic heating, steam, and gas piping.
