Tasks

The Building Engineer assists the Assistant Manager, Project in the project and construction management of dwellings, factories, commercial and other types of buildings and/or construction. -Liaises with architects, engineers and other technical colleagues to ensure that the design intentions are met. -Assists in the tender process by providing technical engineering information to ensure compliance with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions. -The Building Engineer is responsible, but not limited to, the following: -Develops and studies architectural and engineering drawings to ensure that all specifications and regulations are followed. -Interprets plans, estimate costs and quantities of materials required. -Assists in the development of Temporary Works’ Plan, design and drawings for construction projects. -Assists in the preparation and assessment of cost estimates and the documentation for tender/ contract bids.

-Good time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks/ projects at one time. -Good verbal and written communication skills. -Good organizational and interpersonal skills. -A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Building or Engineering. -Knowledge of local regulations and engineering standards. -Able to work independently and as a team. -Knowledge of building and structural details, working drawings and local construction practices. -Familiar with tender and bidding processes. -Familiar with local regulations pertaining to building, construction and safety.
