Overview

Fabricate and weld steel components per drawings on 2nd shift

Tasks

-Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements) -Complete shop order documentation and time sheets. -Tack welds all parts together in equipment, ensuring all dimensions are correct to specified drawings. -Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces -Meet internal Company standards for quality and workmanship -Normally receives basic instructions on routine tasks and detailed instructions on new assignments. -Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws -Fabricate shop fixtures as required by assembly personnel per engineering sketch. -Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements -Work detail drawings fit-up piece parts in fixturing fit, tack and weld piece parts according to detail drawings with components consisting of steel channels, brackets, angles, sheathing, assemblies and sub-assemblies. -Expected to contribute and maintain conditions that will ensure a healthy and safe working environment. -Weld complete assembly according to specified welding standards. -Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety -Incorporate approved design changes where necessary. -Meet production schedule, quality and planned labor hours with limited supervision. -Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded -Correct fabrication mistakes. -Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead) -Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures -Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps

What You Bring

-Minimum of 1 year experience in mechanical assembly, AWS certification (American Welding Society) for welding of carbon steel using GMAW process position 3G, Vertical up and 4F overhead. -Utilization of hand and power shop tools. -Working knowledge of GTAW Welding -Proven experience as welder -Able to work with limited supervision and follow instructions. -Fully understand manufacturing drawings, able to verify dimensions. -Understand tolerance systems. -Ability to use hand tools and welding tools safely. -Able to work as a team member in group situations. -Deftness and attention to detail -Working knowledge of torch and plasma equipment. -Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings -Understand and apply minimally these forms of welding, carbon steel, stainless steel, low alloy. -Ability to apply workmanship standards and understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. -Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA etc.) -General mechanical background. -Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.) -Able to perform basic tasks independently, limited supervision and in a group setting. -Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
