The Role

Overview

Inspect stormwater BMPs on construction sites for compliance with SWPPP.

Tasks

-Examines construction methods and materials used to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and regulations; ensures adherence to approved plans, materials, and specifications; prepares inspection reports. -Sets up and maintains a variety of records and files. -Prepares inspection. -Assisting with the development of project SWPPPs -Enforces fieldwork, reviews construction plans, and keeps accurate files. -Inspects construction projects to the requirements of erosion control, stormwater management, Chesapeake Bay, and related minimum codes and regulations. -Performs technical work inspecting local construction projects to ensure quality control, environmental protection, and life-safety rules are enforced. -Communicates daily with contractors and engineers.

What You Bring

-Familiarity with permitting and inspections under the state-implemented Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Program for Virginia. -Dual Combined Inspector-Dual Combined Administrator in the state of Virginia. -State DEQ Erosion and Sediment Inspector and Stormwater Management Inspector certification preferred or must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. -Ability to utilize computer software such as Google Earth, and Microsoft products to include Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer, and smartphone applications. -Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record -High School Diploma or equivalent, and one (1) to two (2) years of experience in the construction site inspections; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provide the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. -Experience operating equipment such as GPS, laser range finders, cameras, etc. -Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with project staff, client representatives, and resource agencies.
