BIM Lead 4D

Bechtel

The Role

Overview

Lead 4D BIM development and digital planning for a major airport project.

Key Responsibilities

  • bim federation
  • 4d modeling
  • cde management
  • quantity take‑off
  • clash coordination
  • bim training

Tasks

-Assist with federation of large BIM datasets -Supervise and manage BIM model development for all disciplines (including sub-consultants and vendors) to LOD 300, with structured data for future progression to LOD 400/500. -Develop and maintain 4D models using tools like Synchro or Fuzor, integrating inputs from design, construction, and planning teams. -Assist with management of the project the Common Data Environment (CDE), including model federation, quality control of 2D/3D deliverables, and issue resolution with stakeholders. -Develop processes for model-based quantity take-offs to enable construction quantity reporting and forecasting. -Prepare and present reports, documentation, and project updates to senior leadership. -Lead the 4D sequencing program by linking BIM models with project schedules to support construction simulation, progress tracking, and reporting. -Support the PMIS team with presentations and training to promote effective use of 4D modeling for project outcomes. -Train and support project teams on BIM workflows and CDE tools (e.g., ACC, Aconex, Revizto, ArcGIS). -Support BIM-based progress reporting and schedule validation for customer updates. -Assist with seamless information handover from Lead Design Consultants (LDC) to contractors, including: -Provide operational support to BIM Coordinators, including BIM Leads from third-party engineering firms and subcontractors. -Conduct regular assessments of BEP implementation, capturing lessons learned and driving workflow improvements. -Drive innovation and continuous improvement in 4D systems, workflows, and data environments. -Act as a liaison between the customer, project teams, and IT to resolve BIM-related challenges and ensure smooth execution. -Train and guide end users on interpreting and applying 4D outputs to support decision-making and delivery. -Coordinate and review 4D planning activities, including program reviews and activity plans, ensuring alignment with project timelines. -Review of design stage gate deliverables. -Supervise and manage BIM model development for all disciplines (including sub-contractors and vendors) to LOD 400, supporting engineering activities, and final delivery at LOD 500. -Report regularly on 4D model status, highlighting progress, issues, and corrective actions; support context modeling and digital engineering integration. -Support design and construction reviews, managing issue/action logs and ensuring alignment with project goals. -Oversee and coordinate BIM activities across design and construction subcontractors, ensuring alignment in coordinate systems, templates, clash management, and model coordination. -Develop, implement, and maintain BIM standards and protocols. -Coordination to ensure LOD 300 models are clash-free and constructible. -Deliver training and support to team members on BIM tools and workflows. -Develop and implement strategies for integrating 4D modeling, visualization, and digital construction solutions to optimize project execution. -Work strategically with stakeholders to align objectives, mitigate risks, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
