The Role

Overview

Handles HR and payroll duties, hiring, orientation, and compliance for Head Start program.

Tasks

-Work with Human Resources department and the Training Associate to maintain personnel and training files for all staff. -Ensures the safety of all children by participating in monitoring of center, implementation of child safety procedures, reporting accidents, reporting child abuse or neglect, following Standards of Conduct, and reporting any child health/safety concern to supervisor. -Schedules and conducts orientation for new employees, includes reviewing Disciplinary Policy, NCAF, Helping Hand, and completing all necessary employment paper work. -Compose correspondence as requested, including but not limited to: lay-off letters, return to work letters. -Work with Training Associate to ensure credentials tracking list is kept up-to-date and is compliance with Head Start standards. -Processes new hire packets including, but not limited to: Personnel Authorization, CARIs, CHRIs, drug and alcohol testing. -Monitors payroll database (PayCom) in a timely manner ensuring completeness and accuracy for the benefit of employees. Collects and completes Personnel Activity Reports (PAR). -Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times. -Work with the Director of Operations to ensure the timely employment of qualified applicants for vacancies within the DOO’s assigned territory. -Works with Human Resources department to refer staff to Worker’s Compensation facilities when an on-the-job injury occurs. With HR, follows up with required drug and alcohol testing. -Maintain an organized filing system which includes, but not limited to, new hire packets, interview packets, applications, time sheets (and related paperwork), personnel tracking reports, personnel authorization log, personnel activity reports. -Works with interviewers and the Administrative Associate to set-up interviews and schedule Policy Council for interviews. -With Administrative Associate compiles new hire packets and other paper work related to the interview process. -Work with Administrative Coordinator to ensure licensing Staff Checklist is kept up-to-date and in compliance with Head Start standards.

What You Bring

-High school Diploma. -Ability to type reports and documents as necessary. -Knowledge & ability to use the computer. -Two (2) years prior experience working in an office setting. -Ability to greet the public courteously and relate positively to both the public and staff. -Knowledge of Business English, Spelling, and typing procedures. -Knowledge of office equipment and machines. -Ability to maintain clerical records and prepare reports from varied statistical information
