Senior mechanic leads complex equipment repairs, schedules work, trains staff, ensures safety.

Tasks
-Assist in preparing performance evaluations. -Perform safety and preventive maintenance inspections on equipment and vehicles. -Oversee the maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles during an assigned shift. -Maintain detailed records of repairs, time and materials used. -Train junior mechanics on proper and safe work procedures. -Provide technical direction and functional supervision to mechanics. -Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. -Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors. -Troubleshoot and repair major assemblies like engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, air compressors, gps systems, etc. -Deal with vendor and contractors. -Use MaintainX to track work orders. -Inspect the work of others to ensure quality control standards are met. -Communicate with other departments, supervisors, and equipment operators to coordinate repairs and address needs. -Schedule and assing work to the maintenance team. -Schedule maintenance activities based on priorities.

What You Bring
-Perfrm complex diagnoses and repairs on a wide range of equipment. -Up to 5 years Heavy Machinery or similar; drill rigs a plus -Effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences both internally and externally -Heavy equipment diagnostics (CAT, Cummins) -Ability to work independently without constant direction -Experience with controls (encoders, CANBUS, linear transducers, PLC, etc) -Previous experience troubleshooting skills in the areas of hydraulics, diesel engines and electrical systems -Up to 5 years construction/jobsite experience -High School Diploma/GED required -This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver's license and provide proof that s/he has a valid driver's license upon being hired. -Excellent people skills and an enthusiastic attitude -Technical diploma or Tradesperson certification are a plus -High level of professionalism, judgement, and strong work ethic -Excellent judgement and able to make responsible decisions
