  • Ensure a consistent national approach to Zero Harm is maintained through effective implementation, monitoring and review of Zero Harm activities.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to continuously improve knowledge and performance to ensure compliance to The Downer Standard.
  • Provide technical advice and support in the identification, assessment and control of workplace risks.
  • Facilitate and lead incident reporting and investigation process and provide support and guidance to People Managers through the return to work and injury management process.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Zero Harm Road Map, innovation strategies and embedding positive ZH culture and initiatives across all operational functions and supporting the changing needs of the business.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, and/or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to mentor, coach and develop operational teams.
  • High levels of problem-solving skills and emotional intelligence to professional navigate complex issues.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory provisions, injury management and workers compensation.
  • Flexibility to travel within Southland Region, and other regions in NZ as required.
  • ICAM Incident Investigation and Quality/Safety Lead Internal Auditor qualifications are desirable.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications, with a quick aptitude for learning and navigating internal systems.
