Lead MEP team delivering UK rail projects from concept to detailed design

Tasks

-Provide leadership and guidance in the execution & successful delivery of projects, ensuring client satisfaction. -Promote, support and drive a culture of health & safety within the team ensuring adherence to safety protocols and risk management strategies. -Grow capability and capacity of the team to meet business growth strategies and maintain a delivery focused environment. -Active role in design peer reviews in alignment with the QMS system. -Project planning, forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, resources allocation, monitoring & reporting of progress & performance. -Manage project risks & mitigations effectively and ensure delivery of projects to budget, quality & programme. -Support the development and delivery of training and knowledge sharing sessions. -Develop and maintain technical skills & competency assessment for the team and support their training & development. -Perform a strategic lead role on large multi-disciplinary projects as well as providing bespoke design solutions to niche and architectural led concept designs. -Establish and manage strong working relationships with other WSP disciplines, external design consultants, stakeholders and clients. -Manage the interfaces of the MEP design within and across the wider multidisciplinary project teams and ensure seamless communication. -Undertake management reporting and communications with own team, project teams and leadership teams. -Engage with wider groups/teams of GCC to understand resources’ capability, needs, availability, focus areas for development and contribute to overall growth of GCC capabilities. -Support production of bids & proposals, project mobilisation and delivery strategies. -Manage goals & objectives, performance reviews, rewards & recognition and personal development plans of team members and support their career progression. -Development and delivery of technical design reports, drawings and specifications to the required regulations and quality standards. -Manage technical discussions and challenges that arise during project execution, providing innovative solutions and guidance. -Lead, mentor and provide strong technical & people leadership. -Engage with Lead Country and other region teams across GCC to ensure that communication and design processes are continually improved. -Manage staffing, talent retention strategies, succession planning and support talent acquisition. -Lead the production of coordinated designs through all design stages (GRIP, RIBA for LUL, Network Rail etc).

What You Bring

-Excellent inter-personal skills, with strong leadership capable of communicating effectively with other members of the project team, stakeholders & Clients. -Knowledge of and familiarisation with discipline relevant standards (BS codes, Eurocodes etc.) and software. -Experience of operating as a lead client contact for consultancy services and fostering of excellent relationships with Clients and co-professionals. -Significant experience of team management responsibilities including line management and day-to-day operations. -Bachelor’s or Master’ degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with over 15 years of experience in MEP engineering. -A strong fundamental understanding of all aspects of Rail MEP systems (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, LV power supplies, substations, internal plumbing, utilities etc.). -Hands-on experience in leading MEP discipline/team to produce high quality coordinated design solutions and developing technical capabilities of team. -Good knowledge of H&S legislation, Safe by Design principles and Railway safety. -Extensive experience on international rail projects, preferably for UK Rail network, in leading, producing, checking and coordinating MEP designs through the entire design and construction cycle for projects. -Strong experience working on Railway stations’ design and engineering. -Proven track record of successful design delivery, from concept/preliminary stage to tender/reference design, to support Clients’ procurement of Contractors. -Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India. -Membership and Chartered status with a relevant globally recognised professional institution are preferred. -Ability to make a difference, pro-actively manage requirements and risks and influence others to deliver successfully.
