  • Serves as a proactive customer service & quality ambassador of The Econolite Group, Inc. by representing the organization in a positive, professional manner to support The Brand Promise
  • Installation, maintenance, replacement, programming, repair and troubleshooting of traffic signals and street lighting, including traffic signal controllers, cabinets, detection, wiring, signal heads, poles, etc., as well as communications equipment.
  • Field implementation of traffic control devices as needed (signs, cones, etc.)
  • May require on-call on-site response for customer call outs, including nights and weekends
  • May work in various, changing outdoor weather conditions, i.e. rain, heat, snow, etc.
  • Assist in the training of new technicians; perform all job functions of Maintenance Technician
  • Includes driving / operation of a bucket truck for traffic signal and ITS maintenance duties
  • Installation, maintenance, replacement, programming, repair and troubleshooting of ITS equipment, including CCTV cameras, video detection, radar detection, loop detectors, dynamic message signs, connected vehicle RSU’s, poles, etc. and associated cabinets, cabling, etc. Also to include communications equipment such as managed field ethernet switches, fiber, copper, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

  • FDOT Temporary Traffic Control Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of traffic control guidelines, both state and local
  • Knowledge of pre-emption system installation, maintenance and testing.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic cable & networking equipment, Fiber training preferred
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable DMV record; commercial driver’s license preferred
  • Safety sensitive position—will be required to work at busy traffic intersections
  • Must be able to stand, walk, squat, and bend at the waist for extended periods of time
  • Required to drive up to five hours a day; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Computer software skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications such as MS Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations regarding electronics
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Level III certification preferred
  • May include travel within Florida and / or within the US
  • Electrician License preferred
  • Ability to wire and connect cables necessary for operation of signalized intersections
  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving, some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 50 pounds.)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair problems inherent to traffic signals and other ITS equipment
  • Five (5) years of related experience
  • Video Detection configuration, troubleshooting and repair experience
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, practices, and methods used in installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals, ITS devices and associated equipment
  • Ability to interpret design schematics, site plans, maps, and engineering drawings
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair data communication equipment and cable
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level II required
