Tasks

The HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Specialist will lead health, safety, and environmental efforts on project sites during construction and will support long-term as needed throughout asset operation. The HSE Specialist will proactively address risks and concerns relating to health, safety, and or environment with robust training programs, both for internal team members, as well as with external contractors. This role will actively contribute to meeting or exceeding compliance standards by conducting regular inspections and audits, as well as managing applicable reporting systems. The HSE Specialist will collaborate closely with various members of the EPC, Asset Management, and Operations departments at East Point Energy and will report directly to the Director of Operations. -Document, track, and analyze safety, injury, and hazard statistics, trends, and necessary reports -Review proposals to evaluate counterparty expertise and compliance with East Point Energy HSE standards. Conduct vendor and contractor evaluations and provide feedback to ensure we are partnering with high -quality vendors -Review safety submittals and attend preconstruction and preparatory meetings with contractors -Maintain and inspect safety equipment and personal protective equipment on site -Carry out timely and appropriate incident responses -Perform system walkdowns to verify installation is in accordance with designs, specifications, and HSE standards -Identify, monitor, and correct HSE and quality deficiencies and formulate necessary reports to ensure compliance with applicable standards -Conduct site safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards, document findings, and recommend actions -Serve as the on-site HSE representative during construction/commissioning activities, as well as oversee warranty & maintenance activity compliance during operations -Conduct and/or support investigations for incidents, accidents, and near-misses, prepare detailed reports, and follow up to ensure corrective measures are implemented -Develop and lead safety programs and activities, tailored to individual site and project needs as required

What You Bring

-Demonstrated knowledge coordinating processes and work activities, providing leadership in a team environment, and achieving results by influencing others -Minimum of 3 years of experience managing health, safety, and environment needs for renewable energy projects -Excellent ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with contractors through all phases of the project lifecycle -Organized, attention to detail -Comfortable working and collaborating in a matrixed organization -Proficiency with Microsoft software suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.) -Ability to communicate across a broad spectrum of technical understanding - written, verbal and non-verbal -Demonstrated leadership ability to inspire a culture of safety and continuous improvement -OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certification required; OSHA 500 preferred -Must be able to walk unassisted over uneven ground, stand for prolonged periods of time, and carry items weighing over 50 pounds -Demonstrated knowledge and experience with site construction processes and safety and environmental compliance -Ability to make informed decisions quickly and a bias for action -Proficiency with project management applications and platforms -Familiarity with safety systems and programs, risk analysis and management, emergency response systems, and crisis management procedures -Creative problem-solving ability and solutions-oriented mindset -Knowledge of and proven track record meeting or exceeding compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards -Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field, or equivalent formal training in the HSE field including but not limited to GSP, CHST, ASP, or CSP -Comfortable with a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
