  • Ensures Airport facilities comply with FAA Regulations and other mandated design standards.
  • Collaborates with Designers, Engineers, Project Managers, Stakeholders, QA Construction Inspectors and Contractors to ensure efficient and effective compliance of DFW International Airport construction projects with the National Electrical Code, adopted ICC family of model codes, DFW International Airport Design Criteria Manual, and DFW International Airport Code Amendments for Construction through construction document plan review and construction inspections.
  • Records and documents inspection, plan review and testing results. Issues deficiency reports and monitors remedial work. Records re-inspection and retesting results. Ensures correction of all construction document plan review and inspection deficiencies.
  • Uses permitting and inspection tools, flashlights, and test equipment.
  • Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.
  • Works in an office, mechanical rooms, confined spaces, terminal buildings, outside environment, and at construction sites.
  • Complies with the United States Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) current rules and regulations.
  • Performs construction document plan reviews and construction inspections in the designated electrical code discipline.
  • Climbs ladders and works in physically awkward situations, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and walking on uneven terrain.
  • Keeps abreast of new code changes and materials. Provides technical assistance as it relates to code interpretation and conformance, constructability, and quality assurance at each project phase from design through final inspection.
  • Drives to locations on and off Airport property.
  • Perform mathematical calculations.

  • Uses near-visual acuity in reading written documents, technical documents, and design drawings.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code; ICC family of model codes; Local, State, and National Codes and Regulations relating to major construction development, electrical systems, energy conservation systems and building systems.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious internal and external working relationships.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in construction inspections and/or construction document plan examination. Possesses and maintains an active status Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Master Electrician License and/or TDLR Journeyman Electrician License; International Code Council (ICC) Commercial Electrical Inspector Certificate; ICC Electrical Plans Examiner Certificate; ICC Commercial Energy Inspector Certificate; ICC Commercial Energy Plans Examiner Certificate; ICC Commercial Combination Inspector Certificate; ICC Combination Plans Examiner Certificate.
  • Wears DFW International Airport issued uniform clothing.
  • Experience using Microsoft Teams application and Outlook email application.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Uses keyboard devices and a computer monitor.
  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Sits for prolonged periods of time.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to detect and correct non-complying items during construction document plan review and through inspection of the in-progress or finished work.
  • Experience using Apple iPad.
  • Uses substantial reasoning in problem solving and code interpretation.
  • Walks and stands for extended periods.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Share Point) and municipal building department permitting software systems.
  • Wears OSHA approved clothing for construction workers and OSHA approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for construction workers.
  • Experience using Blue Beam and Adobe Acrobat applications.
  • Experience using Apple iPad mobile municipal building department inspection applications.
