Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to address, prevent, control, or restore biological problems.
Oversee equipment/tool performance and inventory control.
Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS units, and other maps and tools to determine exact locations of project areas, habitat types, and associated landforms.
Conduct research as appropriate and assist with proposal development.
Determine well-defined data collection methods for identifying and compiling observational and spatial data concerning a variety of vegetation, wetland, wildlife, marine, terrestrials, botanical, and/or avian species, as well as biological/environmental data from samples of air, soil, water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.
Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, reporting, and record compliance and retention.
Provide biological and environmental risk identification and impact assessment, offering input with moderate to high-level threat mitigation and permitting activities.
Prepare and assist with completing biological survey reports, data entry, impact assessment, and permitting activities for assigned projects (e.g. Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act permitting, CEQA, NEPA, etc.).
Assist with overseeing and working with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform professional biology work and conduct investigations, inspections, and environmental studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular environmental problem or issue, verify site characteristics, and/or to plan for future environmental needs.
Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
Assist with environmental site assessments (Phase I and II).

Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to quickly adapt to change.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
Project management experience with small to mid-level projects including tracking hours and expenses for project work.
Essential professional licensure/certification.
Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Experience in managing the review of documents and preparation of discipline-specific deliverables, certifications, processes, and plans in a multi-project environment is highly desirable.
Advanced proficiency with office automation and communication software, technology, and tools used in the corporate environment.
Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail and prioritization of responsibilities in a pressure work environment.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management, clients, and company-wide staff, including those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exits.
Master’s Degree is preferred.
Strong working knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements, and the business impact upon the organization.
Remain current in latest biology subject matter and techniques.
12+ years of Biology experience in a corporate environment.
