The Role
Overview
Lead senior estimator for civil infrastructure projects in Auckland
Key Responsibilities

Tasks
-Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and review competitive pricing. -Mentor and guide junior team members to develop their estimating skills. -Work closely with other estimators to prepare and submit high-quality, competitive tenders. -Identify, assess, and manage risks and opportunities across tenders and projects. -Support successful project handovers, including ongoing cost and variation management. -Work on a broad range of civil and infrastructure projects -Ensure all bids are submitted on time and reflect accurate costings, schedules, and methodologies. -Assess project requirements for labour, plant, and materials to support accurate pricing. -Participate in client meetings and support negotiation processes. -Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil works using a first-principles approach. -Drive continuous improvement of estimating systems, tools, and processes. -Review contract documentation to ensure compliance with tender requirements.

ConsultANZ is seeking an experienced Lead / Senior Estimator to join a high-performing team and contribute to the delivery of civil infrastructure and land development projects across the Auckland region. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong civil construction experience who’s ready to step into a leadership role and help shape the estimating function of a growing mid-tier contractor. -A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management (or equivalent) -Experience in a mid-tier contracting environment (project values $1–15M) -A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and ability to work collaboratively across teams -Sound understanding of earthworks, drainage, roading, and subdivision projects -8+ years of experience in civil construction with a strong background in estimating or QS/estimating roles -Proficiency in Estimator or other estimating software -Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills
