Mechanical Engineering Designer (Fire Protection)

Overview

Designs fire protection systems, performs calculations, and creates construction documents.

Tasks

-Conduct site feasibility research and site visit investigations. Generate reports and recommendations based on findings. -Assist with design tasks and review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications. -Occasionally visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress. -Prepare or modify fire protection reports, plans and designs for projects. -Assist in coordinating the work of a multi-disciplined team throughout the design development and contract document phases of a project. -Assist in maintaining task budgets, coordinate and assist with addendums, RFIs, and change orders. -Communicate with clients as needed for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work.

What You Bring

-B.S. Mechanical Engineering, other relevant field of engineering or equivalent experience in the field -HydraCAD/AutoSprink experience is required. -Software: Experience in AutoCAD, REVIT and MS Office required -Fire alarm design experience is a plus. -Knowledge of building and fire codes (IBC, NFPA, etc.) -2-5 years' experience with fire protection design for commercial projects such as retail or restaurants
