Tasks
-Participate in the retention and recruiting of HITT Safety Department team members -Identify and address special needs for Site Specific Safety Plans -Deliver “Just In Time” on site safety training -Development project safety orientations that address special client or condition requirements -Responsible for monthly safety summary of assigned business units -Assess training and learning needs for direct reports -Lead OSHA or third party safety inspections independently -Collaborates with project team to execute project wide safety stand downs -Regularly analyze and interpret inspection and incident data to identify business unit safety trends and make recommendations to address them -Acts as prime point of contact for processes, such as Predictive Solutions or Toolbox Talks, within the safety department -Develop and/or lead in execution of department corporate level goals -Assist with safety planning as part of preconstruction process -Conduct regular check ins and yearly performance evaluations for all direct reports -Set safety inspection criteria and expectations and measure/evaluate performance -Participate in safety and/or construction professional organization meetings -Manage outside consultant project needs and performance -Create and maintain positive working relationships with HITT Project Teams and subcontractors -Assist/collaborate with other portions of the corporate Risk Management Team as needed -Lead select subcontractor safety preconstruction meetings -Conduct on site safety inspections utilizing Predictive Solutions System independently -Evaluate hazard and incident data to identify trends and create focus on specific project and corporate safety needs. -Identify and address safety needs and challenges associated with future project work. -Distribute project safety inspections to key Project Team members and subcontractors -Lead crisis or accident/incident response and investigation independently -Participates in project safety and subcontractor meetings as needed -Respond to safety concerns from client, tenants or impacted members of the public -Participate in HITT Corporate initiatives and/or committees outside of safety -Sets an example for safe work practices on and off of work sites -Evaluate project compliance with federal, state, local, corporate and client safety regulations and procedures. -Distribute open issue summary and evaluation for projects and business units -Enforce safety requirements with HITT and subcontractor workforce and supervision -Identifies corporate safety/protective equipment needs -Audits usage of project safety signage and provides recommendations -Elevates safety concerns appropriately as needed -Train and support Safety Department members as needed -Manage direct report work loads based on project volume, project need and additional department responsibilities and make staffing recommendations accordingly -Research and trial of new safety related products -Review career path goals with team members, providing feedback on career development -Mentor Operations/Site Operations in safety inspection process -Identifies or selects special safety/protective equipment for projects independently -Develop business unit safety goals -Can conduct and develop in-house safety training -Review project safety inspections with Site Operations -Provides audit and review of project documentation requirements and can enact improvements as needed. -Evaluate project safety policies for effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities -Review and develop common and complex task Job Hazard Analysis independently -Evaluate and address safety performance of subcontractors working on HITT projects -Research/evaluate OSHA current and future regulations to address project needs -Evaluate inspection process performance and identify improvement opportunities

What You Bring
-Able to work under various environmental or site conditions -Able to evaluate the inspection performance of other department members and project team members. -Strong analytical and research skills to define and solve problems -OSHA 30 Hour for construction. OSHA 500 preferred -Able to develop, select and deliver safety toolbox meetings and/or project safety orientations effectively -Problem Solve: Able to research to obtain information to resolve safety related issues independently -Able to determine and fulfill the safety needs of multiple projects and/or business units. -Able to evaluate and coach others on toolbox and orientation delivery -Able to navigate stairs, ladders and uneven floors or ground conditions -CHST, CSP or equivalent professional safety designation -Works well independently -Degree and five years of experience or eight or more years of construction safety experience. Other professional experience/skills may act as a substitute. -Good written and verbal communications skills -Adapts to flexible and changing schedules -Shows comprehensive understanding of high hazard technical areas (cranes, fall protection, scaffold, excavation, electrical) -Able to handle confidential information -Ability to assess and prioritize multiple business unit needs, tasks, projects and demands -Able to identify and arrange for specific safety training to meet project or business unit needs -First Aid/CPR certification -Bachelors degree in safety or related field preferred -Willingness to respond to emergency or crisis conditions
