At Connells Group, we’re committed to protecting the data of our customers, colleagues, and partners as we continue to innovate and grow. We’re looking for a Deputy Data Protection Officer to help shape and lead our second-line data protection compliance framework across a diverse and dynamic group of over 50 companies. As Deputy DPO, you’ll work closely with the Group Data Protection Officer to drive the implementation of data protection strategies, policies, and controls. You’ll be a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, a key contact for regulators, and a champion of privacy across the Group. -Undertake assurance reviews on regulations ensuring business units understand control gaps and working with the business to agree actions to close gaps. -Lead the management and investigation of personal data breaches, ensuring timely reporting to the ICO and communication with affected data subjects where required. -Advise on and monitor compliance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and Data Protection law, ensuring all electronic marketing activities meet legal requirements for consent and communication. -Represent the DPO in meetings, working groups, and external engagements when required, providing continuity of leadership and decision-making in the DPO’s absence. -Support the development, implementation, of the Group's data protection strategy, policies, procedures, and controls in line with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and other relevant privacy legislation. -Support data protection due diligence in respect of mergers and acquisitions -Provide guidance, coaching, and oversight to team members on complex data protection issues and operational activities. -Prepare reports for the Executive Board, Data Protection Steering Committee and other Committees on findings from monitoring work and identified risks and how the business responds to issues identified.

What You Bring
-Data Protection experience in a large, diverse, commercial B2C and B2B group. -At least 5 years’ experience in a second-line Data Protection role. -Recognised Data Protection Qualification. -Experience with new technology, platforms, and software solutions. -Experience leading and designing the delivery of ROPAs, DPIAs and related assessments in a complex multi-sector Group.
