Tasks

-Working with a multidiscipline group of engineers and technicians providing lead electrical engineering services to public and private sector clients including supervision of a project team, design work, field work and project management activities. -Support proposal development and other business development activities. -Providing lead electrical engineering support for development of new hydroelectric projects and rehabilitation of existing hydroelectric facilities including: control systems for water control structures such as dams, spillways, intakes and outlets, pipelines, penstocks; generators and excitation systems; generator auxiliary systems; generator buses; generator circuit breakers; unit stepup transformers; power plant high voltage switchyards; balance of plant electrical systems such as medium and low voltage switchgear, motor control centers, DC battery systems, backup generators, etc.; protection and control systems; and grounding and lighting systems. -Oversee the preparation load flow and short circuit studies for electrical power systems for hydroelectric generating plant and high voltage substations using ETAP, SKM, and EasyPower software. -Design review electromechanical and microprocessorbased relay protection systems for hydrogeneration equipment. -Follow Stantec and client safe work practices and adhere to all company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner. -Comply with all company, Federal, and project site policies and procedures. -Design review of PLC based control systems for control and monitoring of major industrial equipment and facilities. -Existing facility electrical infrastructure and equipment assessment for development of reports outlining recommendations for rehabilitation and improvements.

What You Bring

-Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required; experience with Microsoft Access is a plus. -Experience designing interfaces with SCADA/ Control systems -Experience with AutoCAD required -Travel time should be anticipated (minimum of 515%/year). -Strong willingness to be a part of a large global engineering company, and to work with teams in other offices around the world. -Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. -In depth knowledge of standards and codes involved in design and installation of electrical equipment, including US based standards and IEC equivalents. In depth knowledge of US National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) is required, plus familiarity with National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI C2) and arc flash standards. -P.E. License required. CA P.E. preferred -Experience with Control Schematics and Wiring diagram design -10 or more years total relevant experience -Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English). -Strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills. The position also requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, report preparation, and the ability to work with engineering staff at all levels. -Experience with hydro facility rehabilitation, controls and protective relay systems, medium and low voltage switchgear, high voltage switchyards, medium and low voltage cabling, and power distribution equipment such as MCCs, Switchboards and Panelboards.
