Tasks
You’ll provide strategic engineering insight, ensure compliance with statutory and company standards, and mentor the next generation of engineers. From supporting asset risk assessments to leading external relationships with regulators and industry bodies, your work will underpin the safety, reliability, and performance of our infrastructure. -Strategic Influence – Shape internal standards and influence external regulations to align with our future agenda. -Technical Leadership – Be the subject matter expert for C&I, guiding engineering decisions across the business. -Innovation & Improvement – Support field trials, research, and continuous improvement initiatives that drive safety and performance. -Cross-functional Impact – Collaborate with delivery teams, regulators, and external experts to embed excellence in everything we do. -Mentorship & Development – Coach developing engineers and lead technical governance across projects and programmes.

What You Bring
As a Senior Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer, you’ll be the go-to expert for field instrumentation, local control systems, and operational technology (OT). This is a high-impact role where your deep technical knowledge will shape engineering standards, influence regulatory frameworks, and drive innovation across our gas distribution network. You’re a seasoned engineer with extensive experience in gas transmission, distribution, or other major hazard environments. You combine technical depth with strategic thinking and have a passion for driving engineering excellence. -Continuous Improvement – Track record of identifying and implementing improvements to engineering processes and standards. -Leadership & Communication – Proven ability to influence, mentor and manage across technical and stakeholder groups. -Regulatory Knowledge – Strong grasp of EAWR, DSEAR, EPS and other relevant regulations. -Engineering Judgement – Skilled in interpreting complex technical data, drawings, and standards to make sound decisions. -Expertise in C&I Systems – Deep understanding of instrumentation, control systems, and SCADA in hazardous environments.
