The Role
Overview
Manage FERC relicensing, environmental compliance, and stakeholder relations for hydropower assets.

Tasks
-Manage and direct the relicensing efforts to include development of strategic plans for relicensing, the preparation of all applicable FERC filings, managing budget, safety, and environmental field studies, conducting stakeholder meetings and possible settlement discussions; -Work with environmental consultants to assess environmental risk/impact of project related activities and provide related recommendations to operations and management; -Develop relicensing proposals that optimize revenue generation and environmental management; -Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key allies, stakeholders, and regulators; -Lead group discussions/meetings with state and federal agencies and other groups for project licensing; -Ensure significant aspects of the business (public safety, dam safety, company reputation, environmental stewardship, and project economics) are integrated into the relicensing process; -Providing leadership, guidance and support to other business units regarding relicensing requirements and strategy; -Stay current on existing and emerging regulatory issues as it relates to the business, and support strategies with other Brookfield staff; -Supervise the work of consultants who perform environmental studies and preparation of federal, state, and local environmental filings and license/permit applications. -Oversee completion of environmental and engineering studies, hydraulic analyses, operations modeling, upgrade and expansion studies, and economic evaluations as it relates to relicensing; -Establish and maintain internal communications throughout the relicensing process with legal, regulatory affairs, operations, asset management, community relations, and marketing;

What You Bring
-Thorough knowledge of and experience with federal hydropower licensing and compliance requirements and documentation; -Strong attention to detail with impeccable follow-through and have the ability to keep data and documents organized and error free; -Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project scheduling and budgeting. -Experience in contract management. -A minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience specific to the FERC licensing process; -Demonstrate sound, approved environmental principles, following company policy and procedures, and immediately acting upon incorrect practices when witnessed; -Highly motivated and have the ability to work independently and cooperatively with others; -Superior critical thinking, analytical skills and strategic planning; -Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science or other related discipline; -Experience managing and influencing people by successfully leading and directing teams; -Ability to proactively establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization and with external vendors and agencies; -Demonstrate safe work habits and following correct safety procedures, and immediately acting upon incorrect practices when witnessed; -Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects; -Demonstrated abilities in the relicensing and compliance activities of hydroelectric facilities to assess/resolve complex licensing issues as well as working with various agencies/outside entities; -Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering specifications, blueprints, drawings and related technical procedures, and effectively communicate findings orally and in writing; -Experience overseeing high-level data analysis, impact assessment and subsequent report writing; -Excellent verbal and written communications, interpersonal skills, team-oriented work practices, and strong technical problem solving skills; -Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands; -Experience in regulatory negotiations;
