The Role

Overview

Ensures OSHA/DOT safety compliance, conducts audits, investigations, training, and PPE management.

Tasks

-Safety and Health policy monitoring, education, communication and PPE supply acquisition -Occasionally work in adverse weather conditions -In conjunction with the EHS Manager, recommends, organizes and prepares materials and conducts ongoing safety, health and DOT education. This includes weekly Tool Box talks, annual safety training, first aid training, Field Audit training, etc as needed -Conducts, supports and documents accident investigations -Assists the EHS Manager when needed with audits initiated by regulatory entities -Ensures Accountability -Conducts weekly Safety and DOT new employee orientation (includes topics such as enclosed space, OSHA-10, competent person, DOT road tests, etc.) -Manages inventory and distribution of safety equipment/PPE including tracking, calibration and repair of gas monitors -Assists with investigating and administering property and utility damage claims in a timely and professional manner -Monitors OSHA safety and DOT policy compliance by both employees and subcontractors by conducting job site, field office, vehicle and equipment risk audits and inspections. -Conducts quarterly building inspections for assigned locations -Frequently walk on uneven, slippery or otherwise potentially hazardous surfaces consistent with an outdoor working environment -In conjunction with Management and the Human Resources Department, prepares and executes employee-related documentation as needed -Frequently stand and sit -Conducts near-miss investigations and makes recommendations based on findings

What You Bring

-Class A driver’s license with tanker endorsement preferred -Ability to safely wear various forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) -Works well independently and on a team -Willingness to obtain OSHA and other training certificates, licenses or registrations as necessary -Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record -Ability to clearly write reports and business correspondence -Must maintain a current DOT health card certificate -Action Oriented -Experience conducting training in group settings is preferred as conducting training in group settings is required -Communicates Effectively -Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs -Occasionally kneel, squat, bend and twist -Be in a moderately noisy environment -DOT compliance experience strongly preferred -Self-motivated and driven -3+ years of construction experience with a proven history of safety compliance, or 1 year of safety-specific position experience, or a combination of construction and safety experience -Interpersonal Savvy -Ability to adapt communication style and approach to effectively interact with individuals at all levels throughout the organization, subcontractors and vendors (both verbal and written) with diplomacy and tact. -Travel within the TelCom market 50% of the time is required -Frequent use of sight and hearing -Ability to read and interpret general business documents; operating and maintenance instructions; procedure manuals, and descriptions; and government regulations such as OSHA and DOT requirements -General computer skills including working knowledge of Internet software; spreadsheet, word processing, and database software
