Senior Highways Engineer

Tasks

-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives to develop design solutions that meet client requirements and regulatory standards. -Comply with industry standards and safety regulations. -Provide supervision and mentoring, identifying opportunities for professional development and progression along with specific line management responsibilities for designated direct reports. -Provide technical mentoring to the team and others for the key service areas provided by the Highways team. -Preparation of concept and detailed design of 2D and 3D car park layout design, and private street design. -Complete assigned tasks in accordance with quality, timescales, and budgeted hours. -Provide leadership with knowledge management and digital delivery initiatives for the team. -Foster a culture of right first-time delivery and work with Project Managers/Principals to ensure effective project delivery. -Work with the Senior discipline staff to proactively manage workloads and effective forecasting and ensure maximum utilisation of team members, allocate appropriate staff to projects or bids as agreed. -Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Mott MacDonald's quality standard procedures. -Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and new technologies.

What You Bring

-Ability to deliver high quality design models, drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications. -Experience of managing project teams and technical leadership. -Experience in drafting bid proposals, raising an early warning notice, and to ensure delivery within time and cost constraints. -Experience and a commitment to effective management of Health, Safety and Welfare, Safety by Design. -Technical competence in surface and foul water drainage design and able to independently deliver work and integrate with larger project team with minimal supervision from senior staff. -An excellent understanding of relevant standards (e.g. the DMRB and Local Highway Authority standards). -Good experience in utilities coordination and working with contractors. -A thorough understanding and experience of using 3-dimensional highway design software such as Civil3d, and Info-drainage. -Minimum 8+ years working experience in drainage and road design. -General IT software skills, such as, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and ProjectWise. -Experience of working with clients, such as National Highways, Network Rail, and Local Highways Authorities. -Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (written and verbal) -Should be able to conduct independent technical checks.
