Senior Bridge Engineer

Design, analyze and manage Texas bridge projects, including reviews, mentorship, and client coordination.

Tasks

-Develop solutions to challenges presented by the client within budget, schedule, and project constraints -Review construction related submittals -Organize and maintain project files -Assist with marketing bridge and structure design work -Attend meeting with clients and other professionals and organizations -Perform/supervise load ratings on bridges of various type size and complexity -Perform/supervise calculations and analysis for designing bridge and transportation structures using various bridge design software programs -Review calculations and design details developed by others -Supervising and mentoring Structural EITs and Interns

What You Bring

-Master of Engineering preferred, but not required -Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) -Technical expertise for the layout & design of bridges and related highway structures -Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines -Knowledge of AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications -Valid driver’s license -Skilled in the use of OpenBridge Designer -Familiarity with rehabilitation of existing bridges and highway structures -A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR) -10+ years of engineering experience in bridge design -Familiarity of TxDOT bridge standards and design manuals is strongly preferred -TxDOT experience is strongly preferred -Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
