Senior Consultant, Hydrogeologist and Field Lead

Erm

The Role

Overview

Lead hydrogeology field programs, analyze data, and support client projects in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • well drilling
  • groundwater sampling
  • test analysis
  • data logging
  • field logistics
  • business development

Tasks

-Play a key role in growing our hydrogeology business in Canada. -Plan and coordinate field logistics for personnel and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with company, site-specific, and client health and safety protocols. -Prepare technical reports, memoranda, proposals, and presentations in collaboration with senior hydrogeologists. -Contribute to business development by supporting proposal preparation and maintaining strong client relationships. -Drilling and installation of shallow and deep groundwater monitoring and pumping wells. -Assist senior hydrogeologists in planning field programs including but not limited to drilling, installation and testing of monitoring and pumping wells, and multi-year groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling. -Supervise drilling and installation of shallow and deep monitoring wells, pumping wells, collect drill cuttings including soil, rock and core samples and classify using unified soil classification system. -Can manage and perform QA/QC of data collection in a field setting. -Provide technical expertise particularly designing and executing field work programs on major, multimillion-dollar projects. -Conduct groundwater sampling using various methods (e.g., low-flow, HydraSleeve, and peristaltic pumps). -Analyze slug, step and pump test data by applying hydrogeological analytical solutions using industry-standard software (e.g., AQTESOLV, AquiferTest Pro). -Install and download data from data loggers and vibrating wire piezometers.

Requirements

  • aqtesolv
  • surfer
  • modflow
  • aquifer testing
  • b.sc.
  • consulting

What You Bring

-Proficient in reducing and analyzing field data to determine aquifer properties (e.g., hydraulic conductivity, transmissivity, storativity) and estimating sustainable yields using AQTESOLV, AquiferTest Pro, and Surfer. -Skilled in managing field personnel and subcontractors for extended programs in remote and challenging environments. -Aquifer characterization and hydraulic conductivity testing (e.g., pumping, step-drawdown, and slug tests). -Excellent team building, mentorship, communication, and influencing skills; high integrity; and ability to address client and business needs effectively. -Willingness to travel and spend time out of the office (up to 60%+ of time). -3+ years of consulting experience in hydrogeology field work planning and execution, groundwater data analysis, and reporting. -The ability to troubleshoot in a field setting. -4+ years of consulting experience preferred in hydrogeology field work planning and execution, groundwater data analysis, and reporting. -Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships. -B.Sc. degree in geoscience, hydrogeology, engineering, or a related field with strong academic credentials in physical and contaminant hydrogeology. -Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area. -This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship. -Familiar with multiple field techniques to obtain aquifer characteristics including the following testing methodologies, slug, step-drawdown, and constant rate pumping. -Eligible for trainee (E.I.T/G.I.T.) or professional geoscientist/engineer (P.Eng./P.Geo.) designation in a Canadian jurisdiction. -Experience with MODFLOW and/or FEFLOW is not required but will be considered an asset. -Strong understanding of physical and contaminant hydrogeology processes in mining, oil and gas, and industrial/commercial site contexts. -Experience in leading field programs for baseline hydrogeological and impact assessment projects, including:

Benefits

-Work out of our dynamic and vibrant downtown Calgary or Vancouver offices with the flexibility of working remotely/from home when not in the field. -Groundwater and surface water monitoring and sampling programs. -Chance to have an impact with a rapidly growing team of water resource specialists and hydrogeologists delivering project work within Canada and globally.
