The Role

Overview

Co-op in plumbing & fire protection engineering, supporting design and field work.

Tasks

-Complete training on assigned tasks. -Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. -Collaborate with senior engineers to develop engineering drawings and specifications. -Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills. -Travel to job sites to survey and review existing buildings and construction progress through various stages of a project. -Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation. -Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.

What You Bring

-Capable of working independently and as part of a team. -Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. -Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the co-op/internship. -Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related Undergraduate program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of October 2026 or later. -Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. -Actively enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related Masters/PhD program through Drexel University with an anticipated graduation date of October 2026 or later. -Must be 18 or older. -Become familiar with reading and interpreting building plans and plumbing/fire protection diagrams. -Learn basic principles of Plumbing & Fire Protection Engineering. -Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. -Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit. -Prior co-op and/or internship and leadership involvement on campus. -Learn Autodesk Revit to model Plumbing & Fire Protection components and systems. -Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to execute projects. -Become familiar with various engineering standards and codes.
