Tasks
-Foster a Customer-First Mindset -May perform complex analysis and evaluative tasks necessary to complete equipment- labeling projects consistent with recognized industry and international standards, local jurisdiction requirements and Company procedures. -Represent the Company as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on technical topics. -Perform start-up services on switchgear up through the 230 kV class. -Supervise up to 5 team members, providing technical guidance and training on testing of Electrical apparatus. -Complete projects consistently meeting customer’s deadline and on budget. -Responsible for safety requirements, training, and reporting of their assigned team members. -Perform all aspects of testing and maintenance of electrical power distribution systems. -Write complete, detailed reports promptly at end of day/project using a computer. -Perform instrument transformer tests, power transformer testing, automatic transfer switch troubleshooting, generator testing, power meter calibration and high voltage circuit breaker testing. -Test and troubleshoot complex electrical systems, moderately complex relay systems and power metering. -May perform power system studies including short circuit, arc flash and protective device coordination. -Customer Focus – Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customer; Gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; Acts with customers in mind; Establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.

What You Bring
-Graduate Engineer BSEE or BSME and two years experience. OR Graduate of applicable Electrical Technical School or Military equivalent and five years minimum same or similar work experience. OR High school education or equivalent and six years minimum same or similar work experience. -Does NOT require relocation to a Vertiv headquarter or regional office at this time. -Strong computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research and operation of computer controlled test equipment. -Strong background and experience in most types of switchgear testing through the 230 kV class. -Peer Relationships – Can quickly find common ground and solve problems for the good of all; can represent his/her own interests and yet be fair to other groups; can solve problems with peers with a minimum of noise; is seen as a team player and is cooperative; gains trust. -Willing to travel anywhere in North America >90% of the time. Schedule is dependent upon project work and is flexible to the degree it can be. This is worked out on a case by case basis with your assigned project manager. PTO scheduled in advance can and will be accommodated. -Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work. Must be available for out- of-town work of up to several months. -Troubleshooting capabilities, relay calibration, use of load and power quality recording instrumentation, infrared scanners, medium voltage breaker and switchgear testing. -Passed the NETA III (International Electrical Testing Association) exam or NICET equivalent. -Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients and peers. -Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation. -Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as OSHA and NFPA. -Learning on the Fly – Learns quickly when facing new problems; a relentless and versatile learner; open to change; analyzes both successes and failures for clues to improvement; experiments and will try anything to find solutions; enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks. -Good judgment, dependable, supervises projects with technical expertise and good business management skills. -Problem Solving – Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; probes all fruitful sources for answers; can see hidden problems; is excellent at honest analysis; looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at first answers. -Decision Quality – Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment; most of his/her solutions and suggestions turn out to be correct and accurate when judged over time; sought out by others for advice and solutions. -Able to write detailed reports, using a computer. -Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. Frequently required to sit, climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move 100 pound test sets. -Valid Driver’s License.

-Typical schedule is to work 8-12 weeks and then 1 weeks back at “home base” depending on project schedule. This varies based on the phase of the project. -Options for downtime (i.e. in between projects), employee can take PTO, training, regional work, and “home office” work. -Expect to receive accelerated on-job-training (OJT) and experience due to the nature of this work. Excellent career jump start and then settle down in a region (if and when you choose to do so)
