Tasks

As a Planning & Controls Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting operational planning across a geographic zone. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the effective scheduling and delivery of routine and non-routine work activities, helping to optimise asset availability and reliability. This is a Level 6 role within the Business Support job family, reporting to the Utilisation Manager. -Collaborating with Portfolio Planning and Area Managers to deliver achievable annual plans. -Driving improvements in core planning processes. -Managing change requests and re-planning activities efficiently. -Manage the Project Plan to delivery, including change management. -Facilitating post-work reviews in coordination with operational control. -Leading the scheduling and dispatch of maintenance, defect, breakdown, and operational activities. -Coordinating with GT Operations, Construction, and Asset teams to manage conflicts and ensure smooth delivery. -Documenting planning decisions and communicating them effectively to stakeholders. -Using planning tools to align workload with resource capability and availability.

What You Bring

You’re a proactive planner with strong leadership and communication skills. You thrive in collaborative environments and are comfortable using digital tools to manage complex schedules. You’re customer-oriented, detail-focused, and committed to continuous improvement. -Willingness to complete a suitable leadership training programme. -Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. -Demonstrated ability to lead and promote team working across diverse groups. -Comfortable engaging with external stakeholders including third parties and landowners. -Essential: Valid UK Driving Licence. -Proven experience in work scheduling and outage planning. -Skilled in using computer-based planning tools and desktop software. -Experience working with internal teams such as GT Operations, Asset, Construction, and Procurement.
