Tasks

-Delegates approved duties and responsibilities to an assistant superintendent should the project require (see Assistant Superintendent job description) -Responsible for training and mentoring of people -Reviews production and unit cost reports daily -Inspects work in progress to ensure project conforms to specifications and meets quality standards -Reports and Investigates near misses -Presents all field negotiations to project manager for approval -Ensures all required project paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner -Communicates with other management staff -Maintains daily communications with project managers regarding status of jobs -Supervises field forces, tradesmen, foremen, other trades and subcontractors/suppliers as needed to meet safety, schedule and profitability goals -Oversees effectiveness and evaluates performance of project foremen and their crews -Reports and Investigates incidents and alerts Safety Director -Plans, coordinates and directs the efficient scheduling of crews, equipment and subcontractors/suppliers to ensure high quality construction at a minimum cost -Conducts weekly safety meetings and safety inspections -Attends and contributes to scheduled corporate and project meetings -Ensures the availability of backup plans -Expediently corrects work deficiencies by utilizing a high level of integrity aligned with the company’s core values -Creates and maintains an ongoing punch list from beginning of project -Reviews job costs with project manager on a weekly basis -Appoints onsite SWPPP inspector and holds them accountable for conducting inspections per contract requirements -Consults and/or delegates and oversees daily JSAs to recognize the safety hazards associated with the daily tasks and educates crews of hazards -Confers with subcontractors and suppliers engaged in executing work procedures interpreting specifications and coordinating various states of construction -Ensures foremen and crew members clearly understand the daily job tasks to be performed and weighs this against expected goals -Encourages communication and ideas from field personnel

What You Bring

-Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere -Prior training in office operations and procedures -Understanding and utilization of Best Practices/Lessons Learned using established lists, creating new practices and striving for continual improvement -Ability and desire to develop and mentor others -Estimating experience -Willingness and understanding of accountability associated with the project -First aid/CPR certification -Vocational or construction management training a plus -Advanced mathematical skills -Minimum 5 years in direct field work, preferably in management/foremen level -Understands and enforces company safety policies -Understanding of and ability to analyze and interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals -Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills -Ability to read plans, effectively use cost reports and schedule -Expertise in plan reading, planning and understanding of project specifications -Strong written and verbal communication skills -Presents professional behavior and appearance -Strong organizational and prioritization skills -Proficient with computer software applications -Ability to conduct meetings and speak effectively before groups, clients, subcontractors and others -High school diploma or equivalent -30 Hour OSHA certification
