The Role

Overview

Prefabricate and assemble mechanical piping systems for commercial construction projects.

Tasks

-Operate forklifts & overhead cranes. -Cuts, threads, bends, and assembles the pipes. -Fabricate piping systems for mechanical installations for use on commercial construction projects -Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work including locations, quantities, and material specs. -Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment according to specifications -Install hangers, supports, valves and components according to piping system plans and specifications. -Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment. -Bolt, clamp, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding. -Prepare, cut, fabricate, layout, fit, position, and assemble piping components together in various positions. -Maintain safe and clean work environment. -Perform leak tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.

What You Bring

-Must complete company specific welding, soldering and/or brazing test for employment. -Ability to travel, as needed, for projects -Able to work from ladders and man lifts at various heights. -Must be able to fulfill the essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and a safe manner. -5 years’ experience with pipe fitting processes using piping such as cast iron, copper preferred -Ability to pass a full background screening and drug screening -The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. -Ability to walk, stand, squat, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, climb, reach, grasp and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs. -OSHA 10 hour preferred -High school diploma or GED preferred -Regular and predictable attendance. -Ability to work from ladders and man lifts from various heights and operate the equipment as needed -Must be able to read and understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings. -Ability to read and interpret technical manuals in order to determine work procedures such as ISO’s and blueprints -Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions. -Ability to pass MVR check (if applicable) or must have reliable transportation -Proper identification and use of tools required for tasks. (grinders, drills, beveling machine, etc.) -Welding certification preferred -Work performed primarily inside but must go outside at times for product and various tasks. -Exposure to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. -Analytical and problem-solving skills -Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills. -Ability to pass a physical ability test
