The Role
Overview
Supervises sprinkler crew, selects materials, installs, bends, threads, and tests piping.

Tasks
-Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions. -Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job plans and specifications. -Make decisions based on measurable criteria. -Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. -Cut pipe, using hacksaw, pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine. -Secure pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools. -Assemble and install variety of metal and non-metal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, and plastic. -Bend pipe by hand or with pipe-bending machine. -Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations. -Test piping system for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaks. -Thread pipe, using threading machine. -Join piping by means of threaded, grooved, or cemented joints. -Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers. -Lift and carry objects of varying weights

What You Bring
-Physical activities including standing, balancing, climbing stairs and ladders, walking and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. are required. -Ability to use power tools and equipment commonly used in the construction trade in a safe manner. -High school diploma or general education degree GED. -Prior supervisory experience is a plus, but not required.
