Tasks

-Prepare bid packages and proposals with comprehensive cost breakdowns and scope clarifications -Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and code changes that may impact cost or design assumptions -Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low voltage -Use Accubid to build and maintain accurate estimates; support digital takeoff and markup using Bluebeam -Track cost history and maintain organized documentation to support future bids and process improvement -Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors; build and maintain strong vendor relationships -Develop labor and material pricing based on historical data, vendor quotes, and production rates -Participate in internal bid reviews and project hand-off meetings -Review project documentation including plans, specifications, and addenda to understand scope and requirements -Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, and field personnel to ensure continuity between estimate and project execution

Redwood Electric Group is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This role involves analyzing project requirements, interpreting construction drawings, and developing detailed takeoffs while working closely with project managers, vendors, and field teams. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of materials, labor factors, and vendor pricing, with the ability to deliver complete and precise bid packages. -Office work includes sitting, typing, and using a computer for extended periods. -High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training in construction, electrical technology, or related field preferred -Self-driven and proactive with a commitment to learning and development -Excellent written and verbal communication for collaboration across departments and with external partners -Familiarity with national electrical codes and standard installation practices -High level of attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills -This position is based in our Sparks/Reno office and is not eligible for remote work. -Familiarity with construction management platforms and tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Revit, or CAD) is a plus -Prior experience using estimating software such as Accubid strongly preferred -Professional, courteous, and responsive in both internal and external communications -2–3 years of estimating experience in the electrical or construction industry preferred -Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation -Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure -Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PDF editing software; experience with Bluebeam and Accubid preferred -May require occasional travel to project locations or meetings.
