Lead a design team to create protection & control solutions for high‑voltage transmission networks.

Tasks

-Delegate technical resolution of site and construction issues. -Develop detailed specifications and designs for Substation Protection and Control systems. -Provide expert technical support to Project Development and Delivery teams. -Lead and manage a team of Design and Senior Design Engineers. -Review and assess engineering documentation for feasibility, compliance and budget accuracy. -Coordinate and review protection and control drawings and specifications for construction and procurement. -Contribute to national and international standards development and regulatory matters. -Identify training needs for new products and support development of technical, operational and safety packages. -Ensure all designs comply with legislation, policies and operational requirements. -Attend meetings and deputise for the Section Head when required. -Lead technical assessments of protection and control equipment tenders. -Oversee tender evaluations and provide clear recommendations to clients. -Define apparatus requirements for System Construction Authorisation (SCA), Project Technical

What You Bring

-Experience in electrical infrastructure design. -Proven leadership and people management skills. -Chartered Electrical Engineer (desirable). -Familiarity with CDM regulations and Designer risk assessments. -Knowledge of Transmission Operator Networks’ health, safety and technical compliance requirements. -Experience in designing electrical infrastructure projects. -Strong influencing and stakeholder management abilities. -Proven expertise in Protection, Substation and Network Control, Automation, Telecommunications and Metering. -Experience in Protection and Control Engineering from 33kV to 400kV. -Engineering qualification (BSc/BEng) and/or postgraduate qualification (MBA, MSc) or equivalent experience. -Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience; Chartered Engineer status preferred. -Specifications and BETTA documentation. -Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
