Tasks

-Accountable for the performance and results of direct reports and maybe a larger or multiple teams -Presents, defends and articulates design work in design reviews with colleagues and stakeholders -Works closely with Project Managers to track resource allocation and utilization for larger projects -Interacts with stakeholders to determine requirements and set expectations -Ensures interaction design patterns across multiple sites and/or applications are rigorous, consistent and thoughtful -Requests approvals for additional expenses outside of approved budget/headcount -Provides input to the annual budget planning process relating to project/support/SW maintenance/Renewals/purchases/etc. for his/her areas of responsibility -Determines need for prototyping efforts, based on functional complexity and requirement specifics -Socializes prototypes via design reviews or 1:1 usability sessions -Determines user research methodologies to optimize data collection -Oversees the user experience from onboarding, error correction, and to completion -Creates and implements strategies that improve user experience through design -Coordinates user research plans across multiple functional domains of responsibility -Responsible for: - succession planning - performance management of team members, including disciplinary actions and hire/fire decisions/ recommendations - GPS process including assessments and Total Rewards allocations of direct reports and reviewing and approving manager recommendations - talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans -Models the Equinix Culture and Values Resource and Budget Management -Observes user research sessions -Presents results to stakeholders -Creates and proposes prototyping standards and toolsets -Coordinates with usability vendors when necessary -Communicates budget estimates for cross functional projects/programs, and ensures teams execute assigned projects within approved budgets -Evangelizes adoption of UX principles/strategy across -Researches interaction design trends -Helps scope UX resources needed -Ensures examination and implementation of information architecture structures across multiple sites and/or applications is rigorous, consistent and thoughtful -Consolidates user research data across multiple functional areas where appropriate -Ensures user research plans and methodologies are rigorous, consistent and thoughtful Information -Provides site/application-level creative direction across multiple functional domains of responsibility -Applies critical thinking to a variety of complex user problems, taking into account user needs, business objectives and technical constraints -Works closely across Marketing Project Managers to track resource allocation and utilization for portfolio projects -Provides leadership and direction to the team, through managers -Proactively seeks continuous improvement opportunities in process/ policies/ standards -Manages and/or escalates issues, as needed -Measures performance against process goals -Defines and evangelizes processes, policies and standards across all stakeholders
