The Role

Overview

Provide legal advice, manage contracts and disputes, and support business units for Kiewit.

Tasks

-Coordinate negotiations on major subcontracts with the business lead and internal supply network lead; -Ensure the Company’s contracting protocols, commercial standards and guidelines are followed; -Collaborate with outside counsel, internal resources, and external experts on the resolution of claims, disputes, and other matters. -Perform initial case assessment and review of relevant contractual provisions, facts, and applicable law to provide early accurate case/matter risk assessments. -Provide comprehensive oversight of all legal matters of each District and provide a full range of timely and responsive legal advice and support to each District Management. -Participate as an integral member of teams in the development of detailed claims. -Coordinate with the internal stakeholders and subject matter experts relative to the legal aspects and risks of matters assigned; -Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies. -Draft joint venture agreements, consortiums, MOU’s, term sheets, and other service agreements and associated transactional documents. -Provide regular and ongoing legal advice with respect to legal issues facing the Company. -Assist and coordinate with other members of the Legal Department with other legal needs of the Company, as necessary. -Responsible for negotiations of prime contracts, joint ventures, MOUs, term sheets and related agreements; -Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required. -Coordinate resolution strategy with the internal stakeholders and subject matter experts.

What You Bring

-Excellent written and oral communications skills, with ability to synthesize complex legal issues to essential elements for internal clients and interact with Sr. leaders and C-Suite. -Regular, reliable attendance -Pragmatic judgment, particularly in determining the significance of legal matters and effectively measuring and balancing legal and business risks. -Self-driven & resourceful to achieve goals independently as well as in groups in a demanding environment. Must have excellent negotiation skills, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills. -Work productively and meet deadlines timely -J.D. and active attorney’s license -Effective organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously. -Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment -Minimum of 3 years of transactional, corporate and/or litigation experience with a large law firm and/or in-house legal department with experience similar as detailed above.
