Tasks

In this role as a design professional, you will be responsible for the production of innovative, appropriate, cost-effective designs, drawings, and specifications in their discipline for assigned projects. You will emerge as an independent resource and begin to coordinate work with other disciplines. You will work to fulfill experience requirements for eligibility to take the professional license exam. -Actively participates in local professional organizations -Subject to final approval of Licensed Professional, check shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents -Maintains orderly work files and prepares clear well-written memos/ correspondence. When assigned, prepares presentation materials -Creates work plans for assigned tasks. Plan, execute, and monitor assignments, communicating status with supervisor to establish priorities -Increase proficiency in using design software -Attends training provided by senior staff to improve base knowledge -DesignAnalysisPerforms analyses or calculations as assignedAssist in the development of reports under the direction of a Licensed ProfessionalCoordinates and checks work carefully to minimize all deficiencies, errors, and omissionsAbility to read and understand local/state/federal highway design manuals, special provisions, specifications, and standardsMaintains orderly work files and prepares clear well-written memos/ correspondence. What You Bring

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. -Basic written and verbal communication skills -Limited understanding of the following structural software is desired, however motivation to learn software upon hiring is acceptable: Microsoft Office, MathCAD, MicroStation, Open Bridge Designer, Enercalc, modeling software such as SAP2000 or STAAD, MDX, LUSAS, LEAP Bridge, LEAP Conspan, and L-Pile. -Construction DocumentsProduces well-organized, finished design documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness from layouts, sketches, or written instructions.
