Overview

Design and develop FPGA-based real-time embedded systems for energy applications.

Tasks

-Work with GE businesses to help transition real-time embedded controls and communication systems from early-stage lab demonstrations to fieldable prototypes. -Develop FPGA solutions for embedded systems and industrial control systems (ICS). -Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open-source communities. -Shape and pursue external opportunities with U.S. government agencies such as the DOE and DOD. -Collaborate with universities, industrial consortiums, commercial partners, and others to advance the state of the art in embedded systems. -Leverage FPGA design tools to develop, simulate, test, and optimize real-time embedded systems.

What You Bring

-Strong FPGA/SoC design and development experience with Verilog and VHDL. -Must be 18 years or older -Experience with Linux build systems (e.g., Yocto). -Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as hypervisors, Docker containers, etc. -Working knowledge of real-time operating systems (e.g., QNX, RTLinux, or VxWorks). -Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines OR Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines with a minimum of 2 years of industry experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience. -Working knowledge of Linux driver and/or kernel development. -Knowledge of Xilinx and/or Altera devices, tools, and ecosystem (e.g., ModelSim, Intel Quartus, Xilinx Vivado, etc.). -Experience with CI/CD technologies (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, etc.). -Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY -Strong embedded programming skills (e.g., C/C++, C#, Python, etc.). -Experience writing firmware and with low-level programming (e.g., microcontrollers). -Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Bachelor's level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening. -Experience with the development of real-time embedded applications and systems on microcontrollers, FPGAs, x86, and/or ARM processors.
