Design heavy mechanical systems for water infrastructure: gates, hoists, actuators, cranes, pumps.
-Engineer and oversee fabrication of waterworks gates, hoists, actuators and associated control systems. -Provide technical guidance during manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases. -Review and approve engineering drawings and vendor submittals. -Conduct engineering calculations and analysis to ensure structural integrity and mechanical performance according to industry standards and specifications. -Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical systems in the field to ensure quality and compliance. -Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables for assigned engineering tasks. -Create 3D models using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and other mechanical design software for use in detailed design drawings. -Interface directly with clients as needed. -Design and develop heavy mechanical systems for water infrastructure projects. -Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation. -Support proposal development by providing technical input and cost estimates. -Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. -Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Civil, Structural, and Electrical Engineers.
-Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and analysis methods. -Experience with cranes and other lifting devices. -Strong background in heavy steel fabrication, welding, construction and large-scale mechanical engineering projects. -6+ years of mechanical engineering design related to water, heavy infrastructure, or relevant product / heavy industrial machinery engineering. -Mechanical design experience of gates, hoisting mechanisms, actuators or large-scale mechanical systems. -Ability to work independently with guidance. -The ability to travel a few times a year for site visits and meetings with clients. -Professional Engineering licensure in the United States or the ability to obtain licensure within 2 years. -Experience with large pumps and pumping systems. -Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. -Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering university program and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. -Experience with locks, dams and other large water works structures. -Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and other 3D design tools
