The Role

Overview

Senior Electrical Engineer designing and analyzing DOD/USAF electrical systems for Sentinel program

Tasks

-Develop new design drawings using Autocad such as single lines, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, grounding, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and more. -Coordinate systems requirement development and verifications with Systems engineering and the client. -Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design. -Perform power system analysis modeling and calculations utilizing ETAP. Calculations will include Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor starting, Relay Coordination, Arc Flash. -Develop equipment and material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact. -Work with and mentor junior electrical engineers as well as work with other technical disciplines in a team environment. -Develop procurement documentation (written scopes of work) as well as perform supplier proposal evaluations. -Perform equipment sizing calculations such as medium voltage utility and low voltage transformers, panel boards, surge protective devices, uninterruptable power supplies and battery sizing calculations. -This role will support design development of Electrical systems and equipment design for the Sentinel program project by preparing engineering studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. -Perform circuit breaker and cable sizing calculations per NFPA 70 to include various de-rating factors.

What You Bring

-Preferred: Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide. -Preferred: Experience performing calculations with ETAP. -Preferred: Understanding of Mechanical and Process engineering discipline drawings and system calculations, as related to electrical design requirements. -Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards. -Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). -Preferred: Experience executing engineering design with Smartplant 3D. -Strong knowledge of electrical systems for part of, or all of, the responsibilities listed above. -Preferred: Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense. -Preferred: Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact. -Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education. -Preferred: Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000. -Must be a US citizen. -Experience with Microsoft office programs, and other common computer programs. -Preferred: Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Electrical Engineering). -Strong understanding of engineering drawings, systems calculations, equipment sizing and cable sizing. -Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively. -Strong knowledge of power systems load modeling and analysis. -Broad knowledge of the application of Electrical engineering design principles.
