Sheet Metal Drafter

Overview

Draft precise sheet metal, HVAC ductwork, and metal assembly drawings for construction projects.

Tasks

-Prepare accurate and detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation layouts for sheet metal systems based on architectural and engineering plans. -Coordinate with engineers, architects, and subcontractors to resolve design discrepancies. -Perform field measurements and site visits as necessary to support accurate drafting. -Work with project management and shop personnel to resolve fabrication and installation issues. -Interpret construction documents, specifications, and field notes to ensure accurate designs. -Ensure all drawings comply with building codes, industry standards, and company practices. -Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or equivalent) to create and revise drawings. -Assist in creating material take-offs and cut lists for fabrication and procurement. -Maintain organized drawing files and documentation for each project.

-Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. -NO STAFFING AGENCY CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION*** -Prior work with metal fabrication shops. -High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering, or related field preferred. -Experience in 3D modeling or BIM coordination. -2+ years of experience in sheet metal drafting within the building construction industry. -Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future*** -Proficient in AutoCAD and other drafting software; experience with Revit, CAMduct, or CADmep is a plus. -Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. -Familiarity with SMACNA standards and local building codes. -Good communication and organizational skills. -Understanding of LEED and sustainable design principles. -Knowledge of HVAC systems, architectural metalwork, and construction methods.
